Objective Rhino (IBCT PLT Attack)

The Company Leader TDG 20-03

You press your hands deeper into your pockets, hoping they find warmth. “What the hell did this place do to piss off God?” You want a pinch of Copenhagen, but it’s too damned cold to pull your hands out to get one. Your platoon has been in its patrol base for six hours, but you haven’t slept. In just fourty-five minutes you can rotate out to the D Company vehicle that is in a security position. They might not let you run the heat, but maybe you can find some relief from the wind. ”Hey, you awake?” your squad leader says as he shoves you. “Get your team up and moving, Red Warrior 6 just called into the CO. We got a mission. WARNORD brief in 5 minutes.”

This is part of our Tactical Decision Game Series. This TDG was inspired by an LFX scenario sent by 1-12 Infantry, Red Warriors. There is no ONE right answer, but there are varying degrees of right and wrong. Feel free to post your answers in the comments, on Social Media, or submit to The Company Leader. Situation

The South Atropian People’s Army (SAPA)–an irregular militant force with Arianian sympathies– has increased its activity in the western portion of the AO to facilitate offensive operations by the Democratic Republic of Ariana Army (DRAA). SAPA forces continue to build up their forces and increase their activity around the Sangari district. HUMINT sources indicate that SAPA is caching munitions and explosives in vicinity of Sangari. They intent to create a logistics center to supply arms and ammunition to their forces. Their goal is to provide a means of resupply and support when the DRA reinitiate offensive operations.

Enemy

Jamil Mutazz, a Sangari businessman and owner/operator of the café, is a member or associate of the Baqquani Crime Family (BCF). He is reportedly actively supporting the SAPA and IRA, both financially and logistically. Jamil owns two isolated buildings on the outskirts of Sangari village (OBJ RHINO). Sources have confirmed that those two buildings are currently accommodating one Squad size elements (9-12pax).

One Squad size element (9-12 pax) w/ SAFs was detected east of Sangari village on D-5, this Squad is a part of DA PLT providing security to its logistics center.

Enemy forces will likely conduct a hasty defense north of OBJ RHINO NLT D-2 to control key terrain. Decisive to their operation is the identification and disruption of U.S. coalition forces moving NW toward the Arianian–Atropian border. This is decisive because it will deny U.S. ability to influence a larger conventional Arianian Force to the North.

We expect the Enemy to utilize 60mm mortars to degrade U.S. forces along their movement toward OBJ RHINO. They will likely utilize engineer assets to build mine/wired obstacles along key avenues of approach to turn U.S. forces into their desired kill zone.

Friendly

1-12 Infantry continues to conduct combat operations throughout AO Red Warrior to destroy enemy forces and prevent their control of key terrain. B Company isconducting operations to interdict logistics operations to the north and C Company is conducting patrols along the southern edge of the AO to deny enemy FOM.

Your company, A Company, is conducting offensive operations inside AO Arrowhead. 1st Platoon is conducting a blocking operation to the north to deny the enemy the opportunity to reinforce their element on OBJ RHINO. 2nd Platoon is conducting a movement to contact to interdict enemy forces in the south for the same purpose.

Mission

3rd Platoon, Arrowhead Company, 1-12 IN will conduct an attack to destroy enemy vic OBJ RHINO NLT than H-hour IOT allow the Atropian Government to reestablish security within the region.

  2. Where is the probable line of contact?
  3. What is your movement and maneuver plan?
  4. Are there any assets at company-level that you should request?
  5. What indirect fires assets do you have and how will you echelon them?
  6. What is your plan for casualties?
