Clearing Al-Baqqah (ABCT Urban Attack)

The Company Leader TDG 19-09

“We really need to develop a better urban training facility,” you thought as you reviewed the imagery of the city. These weren’t connexes back on Fort Benning. Your armored company team has been in Erbyk, a NATO allied partner nation that was invaded by hostile Sermania, for the past three-months. And while you’ve been clearing small urban villages, you are now on the outskirts of Al-Baqqah, a dense urban environment in the heart of Erbyk. The OSRVT feed continues to provide real-time activity in Al-Baqqah as your company headquarters observes patterns of life. ”Chaos 6, this is Cottonbaler 6–change of mission to follow, prepare to copy.”

This is part of our Tactical Decision Game Series. There is no ONE right answer, but there are varying degrees of right and wrong. Situation

You are the company commander for Chaos Company, 2-7 IN, 1st ABCT, 3rd ID. Your company team is made up of two tank platoons and two Bradley platoons. Your infantry platoons have 2x rifle squads and a weapons squad, each. The Sermanian Defense Force (SDF) invaded their neighboring sovereign nation, Erbyk. Erbyk is a prospering country whose economy is based on a mixture of agriculture in their rural areas and technology in their city centers. Al-Baqqah is one of the major areas of industry surrounded by rural lands. For the last week your company has been collecting patterns of life data on the city of Al-Baqqah.

Enemy

In conjunction with your Battalion HQ, you have collected intelligence reports that the city contains a platoon of light infantry with technical vehicles, RPGs, PKMs, and light arms. There are reports of 1x AT weapon system in the city. The SDF is also supported by elements of a local radical group, the Sermanian Armed Front (SAF). SAF elements are believed to number 12-15 in strength. They operate in 2-3 man teams with the ability to drop their weapons and disperse along multiple egress routes.

The nearest reinforcement element, a company-sized armored unit from the SDF, are approximately 2-hours north.
